Southampton Parent Carer Forum

Jobs September 2026

Join the Southampton Parent Carer Forum Team

We’re growing our team! Southampton Parent Carer Forum is recruiting for a range of flexible, paid roles to help us strengthen the voice of SEND families across the city. Opportunities include family engagement, youth voice, coordinating events and activities, administration and communications, social media, podcasts, maintaining our city-wide events map, supporting family activities and delivering our National Lottery-funded Healthy Parent Carer Programme. Most roles involve a small number of hours each week and have been designed to work flexibly around other commitments.

We’re looking for people who are passionate about making a difference for children and young people with SEND and their families. Lived experience of SEND is welcomed and valued, although it is not essential for every role. All posts are paid at £15 per hour, with paid holiday entitlement, and successful applicants will complete relevant safeguarding training and an appropriate DBS check where required, paid for by the Forum. Whether your strengths are connecting with families, organising events, working with young people, creating content or keeping things organised behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.

Family Activities Worker

Casual / zero-hours

Join our casual team supporting SPCF’s family activities and events across Southampton. You’ll help welcome families, set up and support activities, and help create a friendly, inclusive environment for children and young people with SEND and their families. Shifts will be offered according to the Forum’s programme of family activities, making this a flexible role that can work alongside other commitments.

Healthy Parent Carer Programme – Lead Facilitator

Fixed-term: September 2026 – August 2027

Lead the delivery of our National Lottery-funded Healthy Parent Carer Programme. You’ll complete the required training and lead six six-week courses during the funded year, with each course consisting of six weekly three-hour sessions. Alongside delivery, you’ll take responsibility for preparation, participant communication, administration and evaluation, helping parent carers make time to focus on their own health and wellbeing.

Healthy Parent Carer Programme – Support Facilitator

Fixed-term: September 2026 – August 2027

Work alongside our Lead Facilitator to deliver the National Lottery-funded Healthy Parent Carer Programme. You’ll complete the required training and support six six-week courses during the funded year, helping participants feel welcomed, included and supported throughout each three-hour session. This role focuses on supporting delivery and participants, without the routine programme administration attached to the Lead Facilitator role.

Family Engagement Lead

8 hours per week

Help make sure the experiences of Southampton SEND families are heard and make a difference. You’ll build relationships with families, support inclusive engagement including SEND Get Togethers and outreach, and bring together the key themes emerging from what parent carers tell us. You’ll help us reach a diverse range of families and turn individual experiences into a strong collective parent carer voice that can inform our strategic work.

Youth Voice & Participation Lead

10 hours per week, term time

Help children and young people with SEND in Southampton have a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect them. You’ll develop, promote and run our SEND Youth Voice Forum, creating accessible ways for young people to share their experiences, priorities and ideas. You’ll support young people to take part directly where possible and attend some daytime strategic meetings on their behalf when needed, accurately sharing their collective voice and feeding back what happens next.
